Ottobre, uno dei miei mesi preferiti dell’anno, si è appena concluso. Si è consumato proprio come un albero rigoglioso perde le sue foglie, una a una, lentamente, in silenzio, proprio come se ne è andata una persona a cui ho voluto bene. Tanto che anche Halloween è passato in secondo piano.
Se penso a un simbolo che rappresenta Ottobre mi viene subito in mente la zucca e con essa il colore arancione, elementi che hanno scandito un po’ tutto il mese.
Non ho fatto moltissimi acquisti, ma ho comprato alcune cose che desideravo intensamente. Prime fra tutte due camicie di CAMIXA, la Ruby, che era anche “la camicia del mese” (ogni mese Camixa offre una camicia a un prezzo davvero vantaggioso, da non farsi sfuggire) e la Rock.
Entrambe in stile plaid sono perfette per l’autunno, soprattutto in campagna, perché ricordano le fattorie e i colori dell’autunno/inverno. Anche se poi dipende sempre da come s’indossano. Già penso a quando arriverà il freddo e le abbinerò a una maglia di cashmere e a una collana vistosa. Per ora o le metto da sole o sopra a una t-shirt, che mi ricorda molto lo stile grunge americano degli anni ’90, il periodo della mia adolescenza. Mi ero innamorata di queste camicie guardandole scorrere sulla timeline di Instagram e ancor di più quando ho intervistato Celina di Pisa che le disegna (se ve la siete persa, trovate l’intervista qui ) e le vende dall’Australia insieme a suo marito.
October is one of my favorite months of the year and is over. It just faded away like a blooming tree loses its leaves, slowly and one by one; just like it faded away a person I really love. So last month Halloween was not a priority.
If there is something for me that represents October at its best is the pumpkin and its orange color and they both filled my whole month.
I did not shop much last month, but I bought some things that I was long time longing for. First of all, two CAMIXA women shirts, called Ruby (also “shirt of the month”, since every month on Camixa website they sell a shirt at a very good price) and Rock.
Both are plaid shirts and fit perfectly the fall season, especially in the countryside because these shirts speak of farms and of the typical fall and winter colors. It also depends on how and on what you wear them. I was already figuring it out how to match them in winter: with a cashmere sweater and a big necklace. I am currently wearing them alone or on a T-shirt, and that reminds me a lot of the nineties American grunge style, aka my adolescence. I fell in love with these shirts, only by scrolling down Instagram and especially after the interview with Celina di Pisa who draw them (in case you’ve missed it, here it is the interview) and sell them from Australia, together with her husband.
Mi sono innamorata a prima vista della Rock, sarà il colore arancione (è comunque disponibile in altri colori) saranno le frange, ma non ho mai trovato un’altra camicia che assomigliasse a questa. Quando entrambe sono arrivate nella mia cassetta della posta (è possibile acquistare queste camicie solo online o al sito di Camixa o su Amazon, dove le ho prese io) sono rimasta piacevolmente sorpresa dalla qualità dei tessuti e dalla rifinitura. Davvero belle, le sfrutterò molto in tutta la stagione autunnale.
It was love at first sight with the Rock shirt! Maybe is the bright orange color (but there are other colors, as well) or maybe are the fringes, but so far I’ve never found another shirt like this. As soon as I received them (you can purchase them only online, on Camixa website or Amazon, where I found them) I surprisingly noticed the high quality textures and the seams. I think these are really beautiful shirts and I will try to wear them as much as possible in this season.
Per la sezione Toddler, fra le varie cose, stanca di vedere i giochi di mio figlio sparsi ovunque, ho preso questo contenitore semi-rigido, molto carino, trovato a metà prezzo da TJMAXX.
Regarding the toddler shopping for the month of October, let’s say that I was tired of seeing his toys all messed up in the room, so I bought this half-rigid box, found it at half price at TJMAXX.
Sempre per Roman, vista l’immimente uscita del nuovo Star Wars (potete immaginare il merchandising per il film? Star Wars ovunque!) e l’amore del suo daddy per tutta la saga, ho preso a Walmart questo pigiama termico molto leggero e carino. A me piace tanto il nero per i bambini (lo so sono strana!) ma non si trovano molto spesso capi d’abbigliamento di questo colore per loro. In questo caso nero e arancio… Per rimanere in tema!
Star Wars is about to be released (you can easily imagine all the merchandise in the shops! Star Wars everywhere!) and since his daddy is a fan of the saga, I bought a cute, light, thermal pajamas for Roman, at Walmart. I usually like to buy black clothes for children (I know, I am strange!) but here I find hardly something black for children. In this case I opted for black and orange…sticking to the point!

Per riscaldare l’ambiente ho scelto questa candela Yankee Candle Apple and Pumpkin picking che, con i suoi aromi di mela e zucca, profuma d’autunno. Un profumo soave e speziato che avvolge e che scalda la casa.
Just to make the house even more comfortable I chose this Apple and Pumpkin picking Yankee Candle. It smells so much of fall, with a scent of apple and pumpkin. Such a sweet and spicy perfume that warms and wraps the house.
Se poi parliamo di eleganza, non conosco un negozio più chic di parrischicboutique e indovinate dove si trova? Proprio ad Allentown NJ, il paese in cui vivo! Situato all’ultimo piano del vecchio mulino, oltre al negozio si trova l’atelier dove vengono realizzati i pezzi della loro collezione. Appena si entra tutto è bianco (o grezzo) e quello che risalta agli occhi sono le loro stampe: semplici scritte, molte delle quali in corsivo, in una meravigliosa grafia o disegni minimal. Ho letto che fanno anche corsi di calligrafia, in diversi posti degli Stati Uniti. Io seguo questo shop anche su Instagram (@parrischicboutique) . Alle amanti di questo genere consiglio di dare un’occhiata, non ve ne pentirete.

Speaking of elegance, well, I know a trés chic shop, parrischicboutique and guess where is it? Allentown, NJ, exactly where I live! It is located on the last floor of the old mill, right after the shop where you can find the workshop where they create all their clothes. As soon as you enter the shop all you see is pure white and the nice prints immediately catch your attention. Simple writings, some in italic and all the printshave a beautiful handwriting or a minimal design. I read that there are also handwriting courses, in many towns in the U.S. I am also following the shop’s account on Instagram, (@parrischicboutique). If you like this kind of shops, well I highly recommend you to have a look.

Passando al beauty, questo mese mi sono limitata.
Come forse molte di voi, sono ancora alla ricerca del mio signature lipstick che ovviamente deve essere rosso. Forse non lo trovo perché non cerco ancora nei brand di un certo livello. La mia paura di tentare il lusso è sempre la stessa, che poi, una volta provato, non puoi più farne a meno.
Dunque, rimanendo con i piedi per terra e senza spendere una fortuna, questa volta ne ho scelti tre (o loro hanno scelto me? Me lo chiedo sempre e non parlo esclusivamente di make up), che in realtà devo ancora provare, ma che hanno colpito il mio sguardo:Kate Moss per Rimmel, Cover Girl edizione limitata Star Wars (per rimanere a tema) e il nuovo di e.l.f. moisturizing lipstick.
As probably many of you, I am still looking for my signature lipstick, of course a red one. Maybe I haven’t found it yet because I haven’t tried so many brands. But honestly I am afraid to try something more expensive, because I could then get used to it.
So, trying to find a balance in-between, this time I chose three lipsticks (or maybe they chose me? I ask myself this question so many times in my life and I am not talking only about beauty and makeup), that I still have to test but really were immediately eye candy for me: Kate Moss for Rimmel, Star Wars limited edition for Cover Girl and the new e.l.f. moisturizing lipstick.
Il rossetto che ho scelto della Rimmel della collezione Kate Moss è il numero 107 ed è un rosso scuro tendente al vinaccia, molto autunnale, ma non così violaceo come appare in foto, e ha un sapore fruttato.
I chose number 107 of the Rimmel Kate Moss Collection and it’s a dark red color, tending to red-purple, even if in the picture it looks more like a purple one. It’s also full of fall and sweet smelling.
Questo credo sia il primo prodotto che compro, se non ricordo male, di Covergirl. Si tratta dell’edizione speciale Star Wars ed è il numero 30. È anche questo un rosso tendente allo scuro, con dei brillantini. Non è brutto, ma non è molto il mio genere. Credo che lo terrò da parte per mia madre alla quale piacerebbe molto (anche Star Wars le piace, appunto).
I think that this is my first Cover Girl beauty product. This is number 30 of the Star Wars limited edition. This is a dark red color as well, but with some glitters in it. It’s not bad, but it’s not my style. I think that I will keep it for my mother who would love it (she loves Star Wars, too).
L’ultimo è quello della e.l.f. e si chiama Red Carpet, nome appropriato per me che sono amante del cinema. È una via di mezzo tra il matte e lo shimmer. Il colore è rosso, non troppo acceso con giusto una punta di arancio. Non è male, ma devo fare più prove. Ho comunque capito che mi piace e mi sta meglio un rossetto matte.
The last lipstick is Red Carpet by e.l.f., the right name for a movie fan like me. It’s halfway between matte and shimmer. It’s a red color, but not too much intense and with a hint of orange. It’s not bad, but I want to wear it more to have a clear opinion. Anyway it looks good on me and better than a matte lipstick.
Lo so, non sono proprio soddisfatta e non credo di aver trovato il mio lipstick del cuore. Se conoscete un rossetto rosso matte da urlo, anche tra quelli più pregiati, per favore non esitate a dirmelo. Si accettano consigli!
I know, I’m not so satisfied and I still haven’t found The Lipstick. If you know any great red and matte lipsticks, even if a little expensive, please leave a shout out!
Per ultimo gli smalti. Sono due. Nella prima metà del mese ho utilizzato il numero 872 ROARRRRANGE di ESSIE, bello, proprio un arancione…zucca! A fine mese, invece, ho usato il numero 119A di N.Y.C. Black Lace Cream che non è proprio nero ma un grigio leggero più o meno tendente al nero a seconda delle passate.
Last but not least, I bought two nail polishes. At the beginning of the month I used number 872, ROARRRRANGE by ESSIE. This was a very nice orange color…orange like a chubby pumpkin! In the other half of the month I used number 119A Black Lace Cream by N.Y.C., that is not truly black, rather a light grey that could become black after many layers.
