Lo so, siamo quasi a metà Gennaio, ma spero non vi dispiacerà comunque parlare ora dei miei preferiti di Dicembre. Qui nella East Coast siamo stati graziati con un mese invernale davvero mite. Per questo motivo ho potuto indossare più volte questa mantella rossa di Michael Kors che ho scovato in ROSS dress for less a un decimo  del prezzo iniziale. Desideravo un cappotto rosso da tempo, ma quando ho visto questa mantella me ne sono innamorata.

I know, it’s already almost mid January, but I hope you don’t mind if I’m just now talking about my favorites for last month. Here on the East Coast we were blessed with nice temperatures throughout the month of December and for that reason I was able to get a lot of use out of my new Michael Kors red cape I found at Ross Dress for less at a fraction of the original price. I’ve been wanting a red coat for a while, but when I saw this cape I instantly fell in love with it.

Sempre da ROSS dress for less ho trovato un must have di stagione e un altro dei miei capi preferiti che ho davvero sfruttato durante le serate più fredde (sì, lo so , ho detto che Dicembre è stato un mese atipico, ma qualche giorno invernale ce l’ha comunque regalato): la blanket scarf (letteralmente sciarpa-coperta). Mi hanno colpito subito i colori e la vestibilità.

Still at Ross Dress for less I found another winter must have and another favorite of mine I wore over and over on colder nights out ( I know I said December gifted us with mild temperatures, but we still had a few colder days here and there ): a plaid blanket scarf. I’m obsessed with its gorgeous colors and with how versatile it is.

A Natale poi ho ricevuto dei bellissimi regali. Uno arrivato da lontano (ma non troppo) da una persona speciale, Caterina aka @emerilla, una delle traduttrici del blog, che è entrata da poco nella mia vita ma che mi ha conquistato da subito con la sua personalità, disponibilità e amicizia. Potete allora immaginare che gradita sorpresa è stata ricevere il suo pacchettino?!?

I also received amazing gifts for Christmas. One of them came from far away ( no, not too far away, really ) from someone special, Caterina ( aka @emerilla ) one of our translators, who came into my life not too long ago but conquered my heart right away for her personality, her willingness to always help and her friendship. With that said, can you guys imagine how happily surprised I was when I received a little package from her?

Il pacchetto conteneva questo: una busta natalizia con Babbo Natale, un biglietto che raffigura lo stesso Babbo Natale (che ovviamente ho già messo da parte insieme a tutti gli altri biglietti ricevuti), un paio di calzini natalizi morbidissimi, un candy cane carinissimo a forma di albero di natale, che ho messo sul mio alberello come ornamento e che quel goloso di mio figlio voleva staccare ogni volta per mangiarselo, un rossetto rosso della MAC.
Neanche a dirlo, il rossetto è diventato uno dei miei preferiti del mese. L’ho indossato spessissimo. Si tratta del numero A45 MATTE Russian Red,  un rosso non acceso, scuro ma non troppo e pastoso, che non solo rispecchia i modelli di moda di quest’inverno, ma sta bene anche sul mio viso (certamente insieme a un trucco occhi leggero). Here’s what I found in it: a Christmas gift bag with Santa on it, a Christmas card with another Santa on it ( which of course I already stored with all the other Christmas cards I received ), a pair of super soft Christmas socks, a little candy cane shaped as a Christmas tree that I used as a tree ornament and that my son kept wanting to steal so he can eat it and last but not least, a Mac lipstick. Needless to say, the lipstick has quickly become one of my favorites for December. I’ve worn it quite often. The shade is A45 Russian Red from Mac. It’s a matte, creamy, dark but not too dark red, which makes the perfect beauty trend for this winter and also looks good on me, adding a nice punch to my pout ( with a light eye makeup, obviously ). Vi ricordate la mia wish list ? Babbo Natale quest’anno è stato davvero bravissimo! Certo non mi ha portato proprio tutto tutto, ma posso davvero essere soddisfatta.

Che volete fare, Babbo Natale ha una certa età, userà senz’altro gli occhiali, non ci sentirà benissimo e avrà anche qualche problema di memoria, ma gli si perdona tutto perché noi gli vogliamo bene. Giusto?
La borsa di Kate Spade non è arrivata, ma al suo posto ho ricevuto delle calze bellissime: nere a pois con la riga dietro che è (inspiegabilmente  forse) tornata di moda. Le indosserò soltanto in occasioni speciali.

Do you remember my wish list? This year Santa has been very good to me. He certainly didn’t bring me everything I wanted, but I must confess I’m pretty satisfied with all of my presents. What are you gonna do, after all, Santa is not getting any younger, he probably wears glasses, I’m sure he can’t even hear as good as he used to and he’s most definitely losing his memory. But we forgive him because we do love him. Don’t we.

My Kate Spade bag didn’t make it under my tree, however I received a pair of back seamed polka dot tights, which ( who would have thought ) are making a comeback this year. I will save them for a special occasion.

La collana di Tiffany and Co. non è arrivata (vorrà dire che andrò a comprarla di persona la prossima volta che andrò a New York e così acquisterà anche un altro valore)

A casa di mamma però è passato Babbo Natale e ha portato la DONZELLA Audrey di MoiJeJoueLab che è stupenda e non vedo l’ora di andare a prendere.

The Tiffany & Co necklace that was on my wish list didn’t come, which means I would have to buy it for myself the next time I visit New York, that way it will be more special. At my mom’s house, however, Santa passed by and left a little something for me: Aubrey, the “Donzella” by MoiJeJoueLab. It’s fabulous and I can’t wait to go back to Italy and see it in person.

All’interno della scatola c’è un libretto con la descrizione di ogni profumo: il brand, la note e le note di fondo.

Una volta testati i profumi, c’è un certificato per ritirare la boccetta di profumo preferito in negozio da Sephora. Non è un’idea fantastica? Ne ho già provato qualcuno, ma gli unici che finora mi piacciono sono Chloé e Tory Burch.

Inside the box there’s also a description booklet for each luxe scent. The box also contains a voucher that, once all samples are tested and a favorite is chosen, can be used at any Sephora store to redeem a full size bottle at no cost to you. Isn’t that a fantastic idea? I already tried a few samples and so far I like Chloe and Tory Burch.

Anche la casa è stata pofumatissima a Dicembre grazie alla candela YankeeCandle Christmas Cookie, proprio quella richiesta nella lettera a Babbo Natale!

Even my house smelled great this Christmas thanks to my candle from Yankee Candle, in Christmas Cookie, exactly the one I asked for.

Ho pensato di autoregalarmi un paio di cose che Babbo Natale non mi ha portato (ma non sono arrabbiata, anzi, è stato così generoso ed efficiente che credo che sotto sotto ci sia lo zampino di mio marito, ma farò finta di credere che il lavoro l’abbia fatto tutto da solo. Voi zitti, mi raccomando!).

Il mio primo autoregalo è l’abbonamento alla glam bag di IPSY. La prima sta per arrivare in posta e se mi piace ve ne parlerò prossimamente.

Il secondo è la cover di Victoria’s Secret. C’erano i saldi di metà anno e tra le altre cose che ho preso (non devo dirvi proprio tutto quello che ho comprato, vero?) non potevo non aggiungere questa all’acquisto.

I thought about buying a few things for myself since Santa didn’t, I’m not mad at him though, he’s actually been so generous and efficient this year I almost think my husband had something to do with it, although I’m going to pretend he did everything by himself. You just go along with it too. Ok? Anyway, my first present to myself is the Ipsy glam bag subscription. The first one is about to be delivered to me and if I like it I will tell you all about it soon. The second gift I got for myself is an iPhone case by Victoria’s Secret. I shopped during the Semi Annual Sale and, with a few other things I purchased ( I don’t really need to tell you what they are, do I ) I just couldn’t help it and added it to my shopping list.

Il libro che avevo richiesto non mi è stato regalato, ma ne ho ricevuto uno piccolo e delizioso che è arrivato da lontano. Nel loro ultimo viaggio a Roma, i miei collaboratori, nonché amici, Sabrina e Christian, meglio conosciuti come @io_e_mia_sorella e @christian_valentini_artist, hanno pensato a me, la loro amica vegetariana, quando hanno visto questo librettino “L’insalata era nell’orto” di Carla Geri Camporesi. Si tratta di un piccolo ricettario di insalate veloci e sfiziose che ho gradito e userò tantissimo. Grazie davvero!

The book I wanted didn’t come either, but I received another cute one from the other side of the pond. During their last trip to Italy, my collaborators and good friends Sabrina and Christian, known respectively as @ io_e_mia_sorella and @christian_valentini_artist, thought about me, their vegetarian friend, when they saw this little book called “l’insalata era nell’orto” by Carla Geri Camporesi. It’s a salad cookbook with tasty recipes that I’m enjoying and will use for a very long time. Many thanks guys!

Dal suo primo compleanno, ho fatto la promessa che Roman riceverà sempre almeno un libro a ogni festa. Quest’anno ho chiesto a Babbo Natale di rispettare questa mia promessa e questi sono i libri che ha portato al mio piccolo, grande tesoro. Uno (si, uno solo) è arrivato con il book-exchange. Non c’era nessun biglietto e non appariva il nome sulla scatola. Chiunque tu sia stato a fare questo gesto, grazie!

Since his first birthday I made a promise to myself: Roman will receive at least one book every year. This year I asked Santa Claus to help me keep my promise and these are the books my little big love received for Christmas. One of them ( yes, just one! ) arrived thanks to the Children’s Book Exchange program. It didn’t come with a card and the sender’s name didn’t appear in the package. Thank you though, whoever you are.
